Wednesdays from November 18

Your first visit with Dr. Maia

13215 Victoria Rd N, Summerland Wednesdays, 8–11 am

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong before you book. I see children, teens and adults. I start with your concerns and what you'd like to get back to.

When you arrive

Take a seat in the waiting room, and I'll meet you at your appointment time.

Look for my name at the entrance. Street parking is available out front on Victoria Road. Directions and access

1

We start with your story

I'll ask about your health history, your symptoms and what makes them better or worse. We'll also talk about how they're affecting your day and what you'd like to get back to.

2

I assess your movement

I'll look at how you move and use hands-on tests on the areas involved. This helps guide the care options we discuss.

3

We discuss your options

I'll explain my findings and recommendations in clear language. If treatment is appropriate and you agree, we may begin that day. We'll discuss your plan together, and I'll email it afterwards with any exercises for between visits.

What to bring

The Summerland treatment room, with the treatment table ready
  • Your health card, such as your BC Services Card or the card from your province.
  • A list of your medications and supplements.
  • Any relevant imaging or reports you already have, such as X-ray or MRI results or a letter from another health professional.

Jane, my booking system, will email your intake form. Please complete it before your visit, and ask me about anything that's unclear. If you prefer paper, arrive 10 to 15 minutes early; copies are in the waiting room. I go through the consent form with you at your visit.

Fees and billing

Fees: View fees when booking online, or ask me by text, phone or email.

Billing: Pay at your appointment and receive a receipt to submit to your extended health plan. I don't bill insurers directly.

Cancellation: Please provide 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel.

Before your first visit

Choose Initial Chiropractic Assessment if you haven't seen me before. Allow about 40 minutes. Returning patients can choose Subsequent Chiropractic Treatment, which takes about 20 minutes. If you select the wrong appointment type, text me and I'll help correct it.
You'll see the fee for each appointment type on the booking page before you confirm anything. If you'd like to know first, text or call me and I'll tell you. Cupping, taping, exercises and the other techniques are part of the visit and don't cost extra.
Please text, call or email as soon as you know. I ask for 24 hours' notice when cancelling an appointment.
Appointments are required. Book online, or text me for help finding an available time.
Wear clothes you can move comfortably in, such as a T-shirt and comfortable pants. You'll remain dressed for most treatments, and gowns are available if you prefer one. Coming straight from work is fine.
You don't need a diagnosis before booking. Tell me where it hurts, what you've noticed and how it's affecting you. We'll start there and use the assessment to guide the next steps.
Some people feel sore afterwards. Tell me about any discomfort during or after treatment and I'll adapt. Some adjustments make a brief popping sound. If you'd rather have a lighter touch, I also use a small handheld instrument, and you can decline any technique you're not comfortable with.
I'll explain any follow-up I recommend and why. Maintenance visits are optional, and you decide whether to continue.
No. You can see a chiropractor in BC without a referral or a doctor's note.
Text me as soon as you know, and I'll tell you what we can do.
I'm in Penticton the rest of the week. Text me and I'll point you to the right place to book.
