Your privacy
How I collect, use and look after your personal and health information, and how to reach me about it. Last updated October 30, 2026.
Who is responsible
I'm responsible for the personal information my practice collects. For a question or a request about it, email contact@drmaia.ca, call or text 236-500-3703, or write to me at 13215 Victoria Rd N, Summerland, BC V0H 1Z0.
What I collect and why
I collect what I need to book your visits, assess and treat you, give you receipts and keep the records my College requires. That means your name and contact details, the intake form and health history you fill in, my clinical notes, payment records, and any texts, emails or voicemails you send me.
I use it for your care and to run the practice. I don't sell it, and I don't use it for advertising.
Services that hold it for me
Jane handles online booking and the intake form. A business phone service carries calls and texts to 236-500-3703. Google Workspace handles email at contact@drmaia.ca. Netlify hosts this website. Some of these companies may store information outside Canada. Beyond them, I share your information only with your consent, or where the law requires or allows it.
This website
This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Netlify, the web host, keeps technical logs, including your device's IP address, to run the site and keep it secure. The map on the home, contact and Summerland practice pages comes from Google Maps. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.
Texts and email
Texts and email are handy but not fully secure. Keep health details in messages brief, and we can go through them at your visit.
How long I keep records
I keep patient records for as long as the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC requires, then destroy them securely.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, or ask me to correct it. Send the request by email or in writing, and I'll answer within 30 business days, as BC's Personal Information Protection Act requires. If copies come with a cost, I'll tell you the amount before I make them.
Questions or concerns
Please come to me first. If we can't sort it out, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca (opens in a new tab).
